Definitely the best device among the gadgets in the sector. But behind the fantastic Apple earphones lies a great deception. The comparison.

They were born as an evolution of the EarPods, similar but not the same, wireless first and foremost. Launched in 2016 alongside the iPhone 7, AirPods rocked from the start and within two years, they became Apple’s most popular accessory.

An unexpected success in many ways. Apple products are capable of achieving ambitious goals but frankly this was not expected eight years ago, truly remarkable for their critical success and viral sensation.

But behind the appearances of a device that has kept Apple’s name high (very high), over time, more and more users have discovered a great deception, which can be easily transported to all market sectors, a modus operandi which everyone has understood by now.

Airpods the comparison does not hold up: why increase the price if there are no such significant changes?

With the necessary differences, in fact, this is a bit like what is happening to Samsung, we move from one smartphone to another, from year to year, but it is essentially the same mobile phone with very few upgrades, and yet with one big difference: the cost , which increases from year to year disproportionately compared to the previous year’s device. Same concept in Airpods.

Comparing the AirPods models currently on sale, they all share a series of very similar features, hence the common thought of the great deception: they are equipped with the same Apple H1 chip. A model that supports Bluetooth 5.0 and boasts better performance in every area compared to the W1 chip of the first generation AirPods, including a 30% reduction in latency in connections.

Ditto the functionality, we are always there. Connectivity, for example, all AirPods models rely on the Lightning standard, obviously the cables supplied are Lightning-USB, yet every year the price increases in the face of small variations. The more time passes (at least until AI arrives on AirPods too) the more it is evident that there are no changes significant enough to justify the price, which increases regardless.

As if that wasn’t enough, the new Airpods cause many more critical issues as attested by online users who complain of constant disconnections, problems with background noise and buzz, to name just a few. Apple doesn’t bat an eyelid on this: over the years it has always offered to “replace” products that present these problems, but the point is that they really shouldn’t be there in the face of disproportionate costs.
