One of Poste Italiane’s most important initiatives is that of the Smart Postal Booklet. This is an offer given to those who want to save money. They use the service to start a bank deposit and increase their investments. Although it is a very long process it can be fruitful in some ways. But the question we ask ourselves is the following: how much can you earn with the postal passbook?

What you need to know about the smart postal passbook: be careful

Let’s start by saying that the gross annual rate is only 0.001%. We are talking about a completely negligible return that many don’t even take into consideration. On the sums deposited in the postal booklet, however, a tax of 26% is applied on all interests. They are accumulated from the day of payment until the closing date of the booklet. Interest compounded annually is available until December 31st.

But the best promotion for investments is the Supersmart Premium 540 days. This offer is dedicated to all holders of the Smart Booklet. It is activated from 15 November 2023 and is available until 10 January 2024. It allows you to receive a rate of 4.00% gross per annum at maturity on the new liquidity. Furthermore, Poste Italiane provides an application for its service. This way you get to save more than you should. The association allows up to four people to be the holders of the same passbook. You won’t need to worry about costs: the Smart Postal Booklet is free. Transactions are free from any type of payment and the card for deposits and withdrawals is free. From this point of view it is practically excellent.

The only thing to keep in mind is the postal passbook tax. It is currently at 20% and must be applied on the gross rate. Stamp duty must also be paid, which amounts to 34.20 euros for natural persons and 100 euros for legal entities. However, it is not due to natural persons if the average annual balance is less than 5,000 euros. If you intend to start investing, this is the right time to do it.
