At the June 8th meeting, San Jose City Council members voted 9-2 for a resolution that condemns Arizona's controversial SB 1070. The council agreed to prohibit business trips by city employees to the state and to support legal challenges initiated by others. The afternoon meeting was packed with immigrant advocates supporting the memorandum initially drafted by Councilperson Madison Nguyen, as well as a boisterous anti-immigrant contingent.
