Santa Clara University's collaboration with SJBeez across various courses offers students a chance to dive into the fun and challenge of reporting news stories for publication, building their knowledge about the news from the inside out. What better opportunity than to go out into the neighborhoods to document the stories and issues important to the communities of the San Jose/Santa Clara area? Students learn the fundamentals of the news reporting and writing tradition, including ethics, inclusion, information gathering, critical thinking and news decision-making. Most importantly, they learn to include all the communities of our region as an essential part of everyday reporting.
