About San Jose Beez

San Jose Beez is an online collaboration of ethnic media organizations featuring hyperlocal news content covering the San Jose metropolitan area and the South Bay in Northern California.

We publish traditional articles and multimedia stories contributed by the following six local media outlets representing San Jose/South Bay demographic diversity:

We also collaborate with Santa Clara University-Department of Communications for training and youth content by journalism students.

The San Jose Beez ethnic news hub is a project of New America Media's Digital Divide Initiative funded by John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The Knight-NAM Digital Divide Initiative aims to assist ethnic media in improving coverage of their communities and other ethnic groups through citizen journalism and online multimedia development. The goals of this project are to help community media set up a viable, robust online presence with trained contributors who could produce stories more efficiently and comprehensively, and to open up new lines of communication among and between ethnic and immigrant communities.
